Denn is the result of our continued research into the evolving needs of people and their workplaces. It builds on our video observation, experimentation and inherent knowledge from decades of experience shaping workplaces around the world. 

Technology has unlocked more places for work, and as a result, we shift our location and activity throughout the day. People use different chairs in each location but don’t always take the time to properly calibrate each chair for their body. That shows a continued need for chairs to provide the best sit possible, without requiring user intervention. 

Our research also shows the frequently changing postures people naturally take as they work, from collaboration to focused tasks. Our philosophy is to automatically support the body without interrupting that flow, letting your mind stay on task, rather than on your task chair.

There has been a major shift in the visual character of workplaces. They have become more inviting and engaging – the bland, beige office of the past is behind us. Rich colours and textures are in. Now workplaces are designed with personality – they’re environments that should put the mind at ease and bring out the best in people. The furniture within these spaces need to reflect this, by either helping to define, or complement this personality.

Effortless comfort meets a calm aesthetic

Transparency and Texture

The design of Denn’s back brings a new aesthetic to the workplace. It combines a transparent frame with a delicately textured 3D knit, a combination that gives the chair a visually light presence. The transparency and pattern are a dynamic combination that allows the chair to transform depending on the ambient light within the space.

Seamless Movement

A calm aesthetic meets effortless comfort – a series of visually discrete interconnected systems are designed into Denn to react to your body and its movements. That means the chair follows your lead; automatically supporting you as you switch focus, collaborate with others, or take a break. 

Through careful design, only the most essential elements of the chair are exposed, further contributing to the calm, simple appearance that is so important in suiting the new visual landscape.

Environmental Progress

The Denn Chair exceeds international furniture strength and durability standards and is made using waste stream materials. At the end of its life, 94% of the Denn Chair can be recycled.

Denn’s signature transparent back is made from 90% post-consumer recycled polycarbonate and is our first polymer back frame that is glass fiber-free – which means when it comes time to recycle the frame, the material maintains its purity and value. The 3D knitted back mesh is made using SEAQUAL® YARN, a 100% post-consumer recycled polyester fabric which contains upcycled marine plastic litter. The remaining structural plastic elements are made from 100% post-consumer recycled nylon.

Features

Forward Active

The mechanism that controls Denn’s motion automatically supports the postures and movements we take while sitting.

The back and seat can rock up to eight degrees forward. This supports both perching and sitting forward active by moving your body toward the work surface without constricting your hips, and while still maintaining a neutral posture.

Responsive Recline 

Twelve degrees of recline movement lets you lean backwards, opens the hip angle and allows your body to stretch and reset. 

Because Denn’s mechanism is so fluid, it follows your natural movement to provide the best support without restriction. That means your body is free to make micro-adjustments for comfort and health as well as letting you gently idle backwards and forward for cognitive well-being.

Weight-compensated movement

Denn’s mechanism dynamically adjusts its resistance based on your body weight to provide the perfect balance of support and freedom, as soon as you sit down. This means that no matter who sits down in Denn, the chair automatically recalibrates to provide the perfect movement. 

4D arms

The patent pending 4D arms allow for greater inwards rotation alongside the other features of a high-performance arm. This inwards rotation supports a natural position for people to take when they’re away from a desk collaborating and interacting with others.

Headrest

An optional upholstered headrest can be easily adjusted to support the neck, maintaining a neutral posture and allowing for comfortable leaning while reclined.

Intuitive adjustments

Denn is fully featured, with intuitively placed yet visually discrete seat height adjustment and seat depth adjustment, along with optional lumbar pads which provide support by increasing the tension across the 3D knitted back.

A wide colour palette

To complement the personality of the modern workplace the Denn Chair is available in a range of seven back colours and a choice of a light or dark frame.
